Requesting an Appointment

To request an appointment:

  • use our eConsult, Monday to Friday 8am to 6.30pm. We will respond by the end of the next working day
  • phone us, if you are unable to use the eConsult service, on 01375 480000, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm

When you get in touch in person or by telephone, we’ll ask what you need help with.  We will use the information you give us to submit an eConsult on your behalf.

eConsults are triaged by a doctor and if you need an appointment this will be arranged with the most suitable clinician to help you.

Appointments specifically with Nurses or Healthcare Assistants can continue to be made by telephone or in person or also by using eConsult.

You can now self-refer to Physiotherapy, Maternity and other services without the need to see a GP first.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery

Appointments by phone can be more flexible and often mean you get help sooner.

Each eConsult submitted to the Practice will be reviewed by a doctor and if you need an appointment this will be arranged with a suitable clinician.

Please also note that, as well as doctors, we have other clinicians working at the Practice, for example Nurse Practitioner, Paramedic Practitioners, and a Physician Associate.  These clinicians are able to assess and treat many conditions and your appointment may be booked with one of these.  All clinicians have access to discuss complicated queries with a doctor where necessary.

There are many situations when patients expect to have a consultation with a GP but it is apparent that what is being presented can be managed by going to the local pharmacist or by checking NHS websites and self-managing.  You may also be directed to one of these services.

Appointments are NOT required for:

You do not need login details to access eConsult.

The appointment might be at another GP surgery or medical centre within the Thurrock area.  Appointments are for routine and urgent matters and must be booked in advance.  When you book you will be told where the appointment will be.  To book an appointment, please contact Reception as usual during normal surgery hours (8.3am-6.30pm).

Minor Injuries Unit

The unit is able to examine and treat 'walking wounded' patients and have x-ray facilities for limb injuries (over 7 years old only ).

The closest Minor Injuries Unit is at

Orsett Hospital,
Rowley Road,
Orsett,
RM16 3EU

Telephone 01268 592300. - If you are in any doubt telephone the unit for advice.

Home visits

Patients whose illness prevents them from attending surgery can be visited in their own homes.

Requests for calls should be made as early in the day as possible, bearing in mind the surgery opening times.

Please be ready to give the receptionist your name, address, telephone number, age and brief details of what is wrong.

Also remember that we can see several people at the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit, so it would be helpful if you did not request a home visit unless you are too ill to come to the surgery. Lack of transport is not a valid reason for a home visit.
